15th Annual Heart & Sole AIDS Walk a week from Saturday at Leadbetter Beach!
The 2005 AIDS Walk is going to be a fantastic event!  The Walk is only 8 days away, but it’s not too late to walk or volunteer.  Here are a few reasons to join the fun:

The AIDS Walk is fun!  Local favorite “Area 51” will perform, working towards a goal is rewarding, plus you can walk along Leadbetter Beach in beautiful Santa Barbara!

  • Pacific Pride Foundation is the largest provider of HIV/AIDS and LGBT programs from Los Angeles to San Francisco
  • Government funding for HIV/AIDS is decreasing while people are living longer with the disease
  • The Walk is great exercise!

The Walk is 6 miles along Leadbetter Beach.  Registration starts at 9am on Saturday, October 1st.  Check out www.pacificpridefoundation.org for more information or call 963-3636.

Support AB 849 – The Religious Freedom
& Civil Marriage Protection Act

With Assembly Bill 849, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s desk for his signature, the Governor is poised to make a decision that will affect millions of Californians.  He has until Oct. 9 to sign, veto or let it become law without his signature.

As Equality California’s commercial airing this week states: "Now, Governor Schwarzenegger will make a decision for which he will forever be remembered. He can stand up for the basic rights of all Californians and sign the Marriage Equality Act. Or he can stand with the forces of discrimination."  If you’re interested in joining Santa Barbara’s chapter of MECA, please contact Jessica at 963-3636, ext 121 or email her at Jessica@pacificpridefoundation.org.  Please let us know you’re interested!  For more information about Equality California, please visit: http://www.eqca.org where you can view the ad and get action updates.

If you have never called the Governor, on this issue or any other issue: Call now.

If you have already called the Governor on this issue: Call again.

If you have friends or family members who reside in California and can call the Governor, please ask them to do so.

Call the Governor at (916) 445-2841.

LGBT & HIV/AIDS Hurricane Katrina Victims

Along with everyone else, members of the LGBT community and people with HIV/AIDS who survived Hurricane Katrina have had their lives turned upside down. Houston is one of the primary destinations for people who have been evacuated from the Gulf region and the only GLBT clinic in that area is Houston's Montrose Clinic.  The influx of people with HIV/AIDS and others who need medicine and medical care is significantly taxing their resources.  The people they're serving desperately need help.  Make a donation online at: www.montroseclinic.org.
